Construction Carpentry

Construction Carpentry

Students will learn basic skills and knowledge related to residential and commercial carpentry. Topics covered include wood, metal, and concrete building materials; fasteners; hand and power tools; fabrication based on construction plans; and framing of platform and post-and-beam structures, in both wood and metal. This course gives students an introduction to the skill and knowledge base typically required for apprentice carpenters.

Construction Electrical

Construction Electrical

Students will learn basic skills and knowledge related to residential and commercial electrical systems. Course content includes leadership development, safe practices, Ohm's law, installing conduit, conductors, residential and commercial electrical systems and services according to National Electrical code (NEC) and local codes. This course gives students an introduction to the skill and knowledge base typically required for apprentice electricians.

Construction HVAC/R

Construction HVAC/R

Students will learn basic entry-level skills and knowledge related to residential and commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R). Topics covered include tools and equipment, safety, hazards unique to HVAC/R work, physics principles, mechanical refrigeration cycle, and installation and servicing of HVAC/R systems. Course content provides students with skills and knowledge base typically required for apprentice HVAC/R technicians.

Construction Masonry and Concrete

Construction Masonry and Concrete

Students will learn basics skills and knowledge related to masonry and concrete construction in residential and commercial structures. Topics covered include safe practices, interpretation of construction drawings, basic laying techniques, masonry reinforcement, arch construction, and accommodations for weather. This course gives students an introduction to the skill and knowledge base typically required for apprentice masons.

Construction Plumbing

Construction Plumbing

Students will learn basic skills and knowledge related to residential and light commercial plumbing. Topics covered include water distribution processes, installation of hot and cold water systems, and an introduction to drain, waste, vent systems in residential and commercial structures, cutting and fitting pipe, making joints, securing pipe, and roughing in. This course gives students an introduction to the skill and knowledge base typically required for apprentice plumbers.

Construction Welding

Construction Welding

Students will learn basics skills and knowledge related to welding. The students will learn skills and knowledge related to a fabrication process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics. Welding employs pinpointed, localized heat input that can be used in repair or construction of new elements. Topics covered include safe practices as well as skills taught that are needed to produce many different types of welds in a safe environment. This course gives students an introduction to the skill and knowledge base typically required for apprentice welders.

Design and Preconstruction

Design and Preconstruction

Students with careers in design and pre-construction create our future! Behind every product, building, or process are drawings and models created by someone using the techniques and principles taught in drafting courses. Students of drafting and design technology learn to use technical skills to create drawings, plans, and computer models that will be used in constructing a building or manufacturing a product.

Interior Design

Interior Design

In the Interior Design program, students will study the design, safety, and usability issues of creating the spaces where we live, work, and play. Course work focuses on space, traffic patterns, and the colors, surfaces and furnishings that make surroundings comfortable and livable.

Landscape Design

Landscape Design

People who work in Landscape Design create the landscape around us. They plan, design and manage open spaces including both natural and built environments. They provide innovative and aesthetically pleasing environments for people to enjoy, while ensuring that changes to the natural environment are appropriate, sensitive and sustainable. The work covers diverse projects, both urban and rural that range from designing the layout of parks, gardens and housing estates, to city centre design and improving land. A landscape designer works closely with landscape contractors, as well as other professionals, especially architects, planners, environmentalists and people working in surveying and engineering functions.
